Take and burn the frayed ends with a lighter until it melts the nylon.

We use webbing that meets fmvss and everything is done in 24 hours.
Most seat belts are a standard fit.
This obviously won t fix a cut or damaged belt.
Or stop using it so damn much.
Once things start fraying though.
If it were mine i would gently melt the frayed portions with a lighter to help prevent further fraying.
Bad enough for mot failure.
The seat belt tensioner was defective and caused the srs light to come on.
The reason fraying can be looked at as a big problem rather than a minor one is that it can cause several other issues with the seat belt.

A frayed seat belt may have difficulty entering and exiting the seat belt mechanism.
That would be a cheap way of replacing it.

A very helpful wof inspector instructed my sister at the time a young student driving a tidy older car to use a cigarette lighter to carefully heat treat the frayed edges on the seat belt in her car.
Or you could always go to a scrap yard and take one from another car.
Id try it after running a lighter over the fuzz just enough to get it to disapear not melt the belt tho.
You just wave the flame closer and closer to the furry edge until the heat curls the hair into the belt.
I don t care about repair as i have a 2008 belt from my scrap car that i have ready to use.
As a result that can leave a lot of slack in the seat belt.
Try them velcro pads that wrap around the belt.
