Here is a fly line wt chart that shows you the average grains of weight in the first 30 ft or head of your line.
For instance a certain 5 weight line might have a 30 foot head weight remember fly lines are measured for grain weight in the first 30 feet of 160 grains which seemingly should make it a 6 weight line if following industry standards.
While most anglers simply use the general line weight measure when matching a line to a rod occasionally more detailed information is useful.
