Fly Line Loop Knot

Knots like the davy knot the harvey dry fly knot and the turle knot are used more by fly fishermen than conventional fishermen and are good knots for their purpose.

Fly line loop knot.

Make 8 10 tight wraps with the backing. The perfection loop knot is most easily tied in the hand. Using your right hand pass the butt of the leader through the loop and bring 8 10 inches of material through the loop. The knot requires no tools to tie and the only requirement is a pai.

Pinch the tag end of the leader butt along with both legs of the line loop between your left thumb and forefinger. This is just a fairly easy knot to learn for tying a loop onto the end of your fly line. As mentioned previously most fly lines have a loop on the tip and knotless tapered leaders also often have a loop making it easy to connect the two. It is commonly used to join a perfection loop in the end of a fly line to a perfection loop in a leader using a loop to loop connection.

The perfection loop knot is the strongest and cleanest knot to use for connecting leader to fly line. The loops should slide together and form a loop connection that looks like a knot shaped like a square. This step will complete the loop to loop knot. Now take the fly line tag end if its mono to mono make a double back and wrap it around the overlapped ends of both lines for 4 times through the loop that was formed just now.

Perfection loop is used by the industry in packaged lea. Take both fly line and leader s tag end and overlap the ends using your fingers. Wrap the backing over itself and both. Tighten the tag by pulling. Pass the end of the leader through the loop on the end of the fly line. Pull the line and the leader away from each other until the loops slide together to form what looks like a square.

Feed the tag end back. Pull the fly line and the leader in different directions. Pass the loop on the line through the loop on the leader. Hold the first loop between finger and thumb.

Use this fishing loop knot as a loop knot for lures or loop knot fishing in general. Hold the end of the fly line in your left hand and fold it over forming a loop with about 6 inches of tag. Make a loop in the fly line and put about 10 12 of backing through the loop of the fly line.
